Jason MacIntyre

The Braveheart Cycling Fund has launched a memorial fund to help Jason's family.

Jason was the full-time carer for one of his twin daughters, who suffers from a medical condition that means she requires continual attention. The fund aims to raise money to help Jason's family care for their daughter for two years.

Scottish 50 Mile Time Trial Championships
Sunday 29th June, 2008

"Given my record of bad luck in 50's, when I heard that the course had been changed, I expected to end up in the Cromarty Firth at the turn, checking out the dolphins!" But Mark Atkinson successfully avoided that fate to take his third Scottish 50 title; leading Sandy Wallace team mates, second placed Jonathan Copp and fifth placed Ian Black, to take a double championship win on a bright but cool and windy Sunday morning on the A9 near Invergordon. Scottish 25 Mile Time Trial Championships
Sunday 15th June, 2008

Recording exactly the same time - 52:15 - as the last occasion he won the 25 title, in 2005, Fort William's Mark Atkinson (Sandy Wallace Cycles) regained his crown on a cool and windswept Laurencekirk by-pass on Sunday morning. VeloResults correctly tipped the top three, but got the order wrong. We had Mark down to win ahead of Dooley's duo, Arthur Doyle and Gary Robson, but a personal best 52:46 by Robson gave him the silver by nine seconds from Doyle. More...

Eastern Promise Road Race
Sunday 13th June, 2008

On a dismal Wednesday night, made even more unpleasant by Pro Tour level midges, it was those Pedal Power boys carrying on where they left off in the Sam Robinson, with Gordon Murdoch and Gary Hand scooping the dosh in the Eastern Promise road race across the moors around Gladhouse Reservoir. I haven't trained as an SC commissaire, but presumably there's a rule which says; "Pre race briefings must always be conducted outside in the torrential rain, rather than in the comfort and dry of the strip." More...

Scottish National 25 Mile Time Trial Championship
Wednesday 11th June, 2008

The only thing that is certain about Sunday's National 25 Championship, is that there will be a new champion. Reigning champion, Jason Macintyre was snatched from us before we saw the very best of him; we miss you, Jason. More...

Sam Robinson Memorial Road Race
Monday 9th June, 2008

A top class field raced this 78 mile event, attracting the majority of Scotland's road race talent and a number of riders from North East England, including the regional champion. More...

Super 6 Series - Event 4, Leven
Sunday 1st June, 2008

"That was horrid", said the winner Evan Oliphant, as I asked him moments after he crossed the line how he enjoyed it. "It was just like being back at the Rás, what with the rain - and those roads!". Oh! I I thought he was talking about his teammate James McCallum congratulating him with a sloppy kiss on the cheek! More...

Ed Hood's Giro d'Italia Diary
Friday 23rd May - 1st June, 2008

The 91st edition of the Tour of Italy has finished, and it's been a fascinating battle, with a few surprise stage winners, apparently "out of form" riders in the top 10 on GC, and plenty of great stories. In fact, the final week was the deciding section in all the in-race competitions, and VeloResults has been there! More...

Scottish 10 Mile Time Trial Championships
Monday 19th May, 2008

On a Sunday morning as close to perfect as we’ll get in Scotland, Arthur Doyle (Dooleys) did what most people had expected and took the Scottish ten mile championship over the A811, Kippen Flats, equalling Graeme Obree’s 20-13 course record. If Arthur’s first time trial championship win went to form, then the destination for rest of the medals was much less predictable. More...

Riccardo Riccò debuts the new Scott Plasma2 at the Giro
Tuesday 13th May, 2008

The big manufacturers always wheel out their new weaponry at the Grand Tours to catch all those eager lenses - and here's the latest TT machine from Scott, the "Plasma2". Riccardo Riccò, the young team leader for Saunier Duval–Scott and winner of Stage 1 on Sunday, used the new bike in the opening Team Time Trial last Saturday. More...

Patrick Galbraith - Philadelphia Criterium Winner
Tuesday 13th May, 2008

Evan Oliphant isn't the only Scotsman who's been winning races in the US of A. - Velo Ecosse's up-and-coming under 16 rider, Patrick Galbraith recently scored a criterium win in Rocky Balboa's home town - Philadelphia (what do you mean "it's just a movie!?)... More...

Evan Oliphant - Success in the States
Tuesday 6th May, 2008

VeloResults caught up with Evan recently to chat about his and his team's very successful racing trip to the states, here's what Ev had to say about it. Why were Plowman Craven in the US, Evan? "There was no racing in the UK, the Archer was cancelled due to lack of police cooperation and there was another race near London where we got our entries returned because the organiser thought we'd dominate the race. As it happened, we saw the results and Rapha rode it! Plowman Craven have offices in LA; that's a factor, but probably the main thing is that Tony Gibb's girlfriend works for BA and got us a great deal on the air tickets!" More...
